Cognac Cocktails

These are some of the fan favorites.

French Connection

  • 1 ½ ounce Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • 1 ounce Amaretto

Fill a rock glass with ice. Add the cognac and amaretto and stir briefly.

Nocino Sour

  • 1 ½ ounces Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • ¾ ounce lemon juice
  • ¼ ounce simple syrup
  • Dash of Angostura bitters

Shake with ice and strain into a rock glass over ice. Garnish with a thin lemon wheel.

Stinger

  • 2 ounces Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • ¾ ounce white Crème de menthe (white, not green)

Stir the ingredients in a mixing glass with ice. Strain into an ice-filled lowball glass and garnish with mint.

Cognac Margarita

  • 1 ounce Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • 1 ½ ounce Tequila Reposado
  • 1 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • ½ ounce lime juice

Run a lime wedge around the rim of a glass and dip into a plate of salt. Shake all ingredients with ice, strain into the glass and fill with ice.

Vieux Carré

  • ¾ ounce Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • ¾ ounce Whiskey
  • ¾ ounce Sweet Vermouth
  • ¼ ounce Benedictine
  • Dash of Peychaud’s bitters
  • Dash of Angostura bitters

Build the drink in a chilled, double old-fashioned glass over a large ice cube. Garnish with a lemon peel.

Milk Punch

  • ½ ounce Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • 3 ounces whole milk
  • 1 ½ ounce Bourbon Whiskey
  • ½ ounce simple syrup
  • ½ teaspoon vanilla

Shake with ice and strain into a lowball or martini glass, garnish with freshly grated nutmeg and star anise if desired.

Sidecar

  • 1 ½ ounces Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • ¾ ounce orange liqueur (such as Cointreau)
  • ¾ ounce lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • Garnish: lemon twist, sugar rim (optional)

Shake with ice and strain into the prepared glass with sugar rim.

Between the Sheets

  • 1 ounce Hugo Rouge VS Cognac
  • 1 ounce White Rum
  • 1 ounce Cointreau or Triple Sec
  • ¾ ounce fresh lemon juice

Shake with ice. Strain into a cocktail glass, garnish with a lemon peel.
